The Dance of Death – Hans Holbein’s masterpiece of the macabre, originally published in Lyons in 1538. It was newly etched at the end of the 18th century by David Deuchar who published several series of etchings after great masters, such as Rembrandt and Van Ostade. It was thereafter re-issued by John Holbein as a collection of 48 engraved plates by Hans Holbein, each accompanied by short description.
